The Car rig and dynamics

Travel path

Here is an early example of the car rig where it doesn’t work correctly and the car isn’t going in a straight line.

Steering and breaks system
User data and X-presso rig
Speedometer Data mapping

Here I used a lot of X-presso programing to connect things like the speed of the car, brakes, speedometer etc. This gave me much more control and made it easier to work with the car and its movement. The car uses Cinema 4Ds dynamics system which made it easy for me to slow down the time and keep it separate from other animation.

Breaks – using angular damping

To make the Brakes I changed the percentage of angular dampening in the dynamics – forces tab.

Dots mograph effect

I used fields to make the dotted effect on the car and set it to grow and then decay over time to get a cool ripple effect.

Collision deformation

To make the car deform when it crashed into the pillar I used the collision and surface deformers.
